Was a short and sweet showing from Bethesdas E3 conference. Was it worth its own conference? I don’t think so. The one thing that really grinds my gears lately is the number of sequels that are popping up. Where are the fresh ideas? Why don’t these big publishers scour the indie scene to spot great gaming ideas and then take them under their wing? They could spot a little gem and they provide funding to help them produce something that they otherwise would not have been able to.
Anyway, now I’ve got that off my chest, I feel better.
Although Bethesda’s show contained sequels galore. The standout game for me would have to be Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus. I’m currently playing through Wolfenstein: The New Order on my PlayStation 4. To be honest with you, I’m loving it. I don’t know what it is about the game that is making it so much fun for me. This is coming from a gamer who is rubbish at first person shooters. I’d highly recommend it if you haven’t already taken the plunge.
It was nice to see Bethesda taking virtual reality seriously and investing the time and money into bringing its biggest franchises to the platform. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that they can bring them to the PSVR as well as the HTC Vive. Although, I do suffer from VR sickness so not sure how much I could stomach of Doom VFRs fast pace in VR.
It was also nice to finally see more of the already 6 years old Elder Scrolls V Skyrim running on Nintendo Switch. Could Nintendo finally be getting the third party support it deserves?
