Are people still playing Pokémon GO?
I played Pokémon Go for about 3 weeks on and off. When I say played, what I actually mean is, most of the time I opened the app to see if there were any Pokémon in my living room or in the bathroom, usually while I was sat on the toilet.
Occasionally I went for a walk around the village I work in. I couldn’t bring myself to walk around the village that I live in, just in case I saw someone I knew and had to explain that I was out catching Pokémon.
Rural countryside equals scarce Pokémon in Pokémon GO
The location I live in and the location that I work in are both small villages situated out in the sticks. This meant that I could only explore so much of my local area.
The worst of the two places is the village I live. There is one Pokégym located at the small village library and 2 PokéStops that I know of and that is it.
Collecting Pokémon in my home village was difficult. There was hardly any that appeared. I did try taking the dog a walk to see if I could encourage any critters to appear. Occasionally they would appear but when they did they were nothing exciting or rare. It was usually a Rattata or Pidgey. Meh…
In my work village, it was not much better. The local church was a pokégym and again there were only a couple of PokéStops. I did, however, get a few more species of Pokémon.
Pokégym and stuff
I tried to play I levelled up a few times but only trained twice at gyms and failed to win one match. Mainly because I couldn’t be arsed to walk to the Pokégym. At this point, I was losing interest.
The app was basic and buggy at the time leading to further detachment from the game and eventually I removed the app from my phone.
Has the nostalgia bubble burst? People I haven spoken to have stopped playing, while a couple are hanging on.
Now that the hype has calmed surrounding the game what are your thoughts on Pokémon Go? Let us know in the comments section below.
