Are there too many Free 2 play games?15th July 2017
So I was at work the other day and thinking about gaming in general and then my mind started to wonder. I began to think about when the Playstation 4 and XBOX One launched and there were only a few free 2 play games available to choose from. My favourite at the time being Warframe.
I know there were free to play games available on Playstation 3 and XBOX 360 before this generation, and yes PC has been lucky enough to have had them for longer.
Anyway, when you look at the number of free 2 play games on consoles and PC today there’s so much choice that I personally don’t know which one to invest my time in.
Are there too many free 2 play games?
I guess you can argue that no there are not too many because it allows us to have a wide variety of free 2 play games in the palm of our hands. Choice can be great for the end consumer in that it means that there is more competition amongst developers. This would lead to a better quality of games being made.
These Free 2 play games can be a monster of a game especially if it is an RPG such as Dungeons and Dragon: Never Winter or a game in the form of Trove. They are huge games in the scheme of things. So how do you choose which one to invest your time in?
I tend to download the game and give it a couple of hours, just to get a feel for it. A game like Smite took me a few more hours of play before I could make my mind up. This is because the tutorial took me a while to do.
I like my games to be fun to me, so if it starts to feel like a chore to play then I turn it off and delete it.
How do you personally decide which free 2 play games to play and stick with? Let me know in the comments below.
