7 PlayStation VR Games And Experiences You Must Try3rd July 2018
Now that PlayStation VR and VR, in general, has been out for a couple of years, there are a plethora of PlayStation VR games and experiences available that come in all shapes and sizes. From a sit, look and enjoy the view type of experience that you get with Perfect to watching movies and shorts virtual reality in Little Star VR Cinema app.
From dodging bullets in Super Hot VR to blasting the enemy in space in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare VR experience.
There’s a little something for everyone.
This is my list based on my own experiences so you may think of other VR games and experiences that should be on the list. If so let me know in the comments below.
7: Robinson: The Journey
First on my top 7 PSVR games list is Robinson: The Journey. It’s only a short VR game/experience but it was one of the first PSVR games that looked beautiful and showed the gaming community hopefully a glimpse of the future.
From the details dinosaurs, that when they come so close to your face you feel like you could just reach out and touch it. Yes, I’m pointing at you Brachiosaurus. To the stunningly detailed environments, like the tar pit, that create a rich atmosphere.
Free movement is what most VR players want and that’s just what you get in Robinson: The Journey.
Farpoint, a great game if you enjoy sci-fi first-person shooters. Not so great if you have a fear of giant spiders that jump at your face.
It’s one of the best games that use the PlayStation Aim controller superbly. The game is fun and with the added co-op mode you can get more out of both the game and your swanky Aim controller. I believe Farpoint is deserving of a place on the list.
5: REC Room
This one is a bit different to all the others on the list. The reason I have chosen REC Room is that it opened up a new online experience for VR players. REC Room is a place to hang out, a place to take the Micky out of each other, make new friends and play a collection of mini-games with others all in VR. I mean there is now even a Royale mode.
Think of REC Room as a kind of PlayStation Home type place just a bit more fun and interactive.
4: Until Dawn Rush of Blood
On-rails shooters are so much fun and they work well in VR. Until Dawn: Rush of Blood is a perfect example of this. It makes you jump, it’s fun and scary in some places. It’s also quite a lengthy game. So when you are finished with the Casual mode then you can challenge yourself on Normal and Hard modes.
If only Time Crisis, Virtua Cop and the House of the Dead series were converted to be compatible with VR, that would be amazing.
3: Resident Evil VII
This list wouldn’t be complete without Resident Evil 7. Even if you are not a fan of the other Resident Evil games, I urge you to try this. It’s completely in first-person and is more in tune with the survival horror style of the original game.
Running away from the dad and his shovel and hiding in a corner peeking slowly around the edge of the door frame is one of the most surreal and scary moments I have ever experienced in a video game. Terrifying.
2: WipEout Omega Collection
Wow, WipEout in VR is one of the most exhilarating experiences ever. FACT!
The speed of the ships, the scale and variety of the cityscapes and the music in WiPeout Omega Collection means that this is the definitive way to play WipEout.
It is one of the most immersive experiences in VR that I had to date. This would have been number one in my list but it just got pipped to the post.
1: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
For me Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim had to be number one on my list. The game is a pure monster. It’s huge, immersive and holds many experiences that you need to experience. Such as holding a shield up with the Move controller to block the flames of a dragon and when you look around you can see those flames all around you. You need to experience it to believe it.
